One New Venue, International Photographer, Yoga Project at the Y, Outdoor Music Performances & Irish Dancing Highlighting Next Art Walk – JUNE 5
Kick off summer and party inside/out on First Friday! Enjoy a new venue, international/acclaimed photographer, family-friendly yoga project at the Y, several music and dance performances and more at 30 venue locations at Binghamton’s next First Friday Art Walk on June 5.
First, start at the newest First Friday venue, The Shop (219 Washington St., between Henry/Lewis Sts.), café/bar/creperie that recently opened in downtown Binghamton, will feature artists Nathan Gorman with “The Wall” – Wall Mural in Acrylic and Zoran Nenadich and Eugenie Zynda with “We Heart Graffiti” – Photography on Canvas. They will also host music from 9 PM-12 Midnight by Caribbean Drumming Group and two Deep House DJs to benefit The Memory Maker Project. The Shop made its debut during the spring 2015 Binghamton Restaurant Week (Mar. 24-Apr. 2) and is open for lunch and dinner; more info on their website: theshop219.com.
Around the corner from The Shop at Lost Dog Cafe (222 Water St., corner Henry St.), there’s international and acclaimed photographer, Yelena Yeva in a show titled: “The ART Of LETTING GO...” Photography - Prints on Heavy Matt Natural Paper, Platinum Metallic Gloss & Heavy Matt Print Board (Thru June 2015). "I don't take pictures I capture Moments," says Yelena (Reporyeva) Yeva, born and raised in Odessa, Ukraine. The former model and actress who studied at the College of Physical Education in Odessa, has had her work published in magazines in Europe, So. America, Caribbean, and U.S.A. She recently relocated from NYC to Vestal, NY, to raise her two kids. There will be a “Meet the Artist” from 6-8 PM in Lost Dog Lounge on First Friday.
For Yoga enthusiasts, check out the Sunrise Yoga Project at the YMCA of Broome County/Binghamton Y (61 Susquehanna St.), for their free demos and info on Yoga and this project on First Friday. The Sunrise Yoga Project offers free Yoga to veterans, active military, their families and caregivers and represents a collaborative effort between the YMCA of Broome Co. and Baptiste Foundation. In the past four months, the Sunrise Yoga Project has grown to three instructors and seven classes throughout the county.

**Confluence Running (46 S. Washington St.): June 5 Pub Run starts at 7 PM from Confluence Running with first stop at Water St. Brewing Co. (168 Water St., across from Boscov’s).
Additionally, at the Art Mission & Theater (61 Prospect Ave., off Lewis St.), there’s a gallery show: "Meet The Memory Maker Project": Works by Clients of the Memory Makers Project, plus a Special Screening: "I Remember Better When I Paint" will be held at 5 PM, $10.
This First Friday Art Walk, presented by GWSA and sponsored in part by Equinox Broadcasting, M&T Bank, and Triple Cities Carousel, will feature 30 locations in Binghamton, downtown, west side, and south side, and open Friday from 6-9 PM, unless noted otherwise.
