“Art A La Carte” First Friday, New Venue, Argentine Tango Music & More Highlight Binghamton’s Next First Friday Art Walk – NOVEMBER 6
“Art A La Carte” in all its many forms represents the “mantra” next First Friday! Enjoy the actual “Art A La Carte” artwork display at HealthLinkNY and other arty First Friday highlights including a new venue downtown with the Binghamton University Photography Club co-hosting a one night gallery and silent auction at a Court Street apartment building, plus Argentine Tango in a performance hosted by the Binghamton Philharmonic at Roberson Museum, and more. There’s “something for everyone” at Binghamton, NY’s, next First Friday Art Walk on November 6.
Start your art walk downtown on Court Street for “Art A La Carte” at HealthLinkNY (49 Court St.) at their new location (formerly in the Lackawanna Train Station and now in the retail space previously occupied by Ellis Bros. Contemporary Furniture). Art A La Carte is part of a UHS cancer support group, designed to give women with a cancer diagnosis a safe and creative opportunity to process both their experience and emotions through a trying time. The “Art A La Carte” theme continues at the newest First Friday venue, Binghamton University Photography Club for a One Night Only Gallery and Silent Auction, inside the top three floors of an apartment building located above The Colonial restaurant (58 Court St.). This One Night Gallery* features Photographers from the BU Photography Club, Painters and Graphic Designers, including: Kelvin Gutierrez Wendy Meza, Wendy Huang, Theresa Pryce, Emma Rudolph, Tiye Sheares, and Zack Power with Digital Photography. Also, Rashid Al-Shaif with Acrylic Painting & more artists. It’s a Showcase of Artwork, set up as a Silent Auction, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross' "Vaccinate a Village" fundraiser. 4) **River Read Books (5 Court St.): November Exhibit: Featuring Anni Johnson: “NotReadymades: An Economy of Gifts” - Fiber Art. Anni created these hats, made from waxed linen fabric, based on 500-word essays that people wrote about themselves. (Some hats will be raffled off with proceeds donated to VINES/Volunteers Improving Neighborhood Environments.)
This First Friday Art Walk, presented by GWSA and sponsored in part by Equinox Broadcasting, M&T Bank, and Triple Cities Carousel, will feature 28 locations in Binghamton, downtown, west side, and south side, and open Friday from 6-9 PM, unless noted otherwise.
